Description

SÜA ECuSn-C phosphor bronze electrodes are flux-coated consumables for shielded metal arc welding (SMAW). They are used for joining, repair and surface buildup, including selected steel or cast-iron parts joined to copper, brass, bronze and gunmetal. Applications include bearing journals, shafts, pumps and impellers. Confirm the base-alloy combination and welding procedure before use. Weld deposits are machinable and can work-harden in service. Typical weld-metal properties reported in the supplier technical data sheet are 65,000 psi tensile strength, 35,000 psi yield strength, 45–50% elongation in 2 inches and Brinell hardness of 85–100. These are typical values, not guaranteed minimums. Use AC or DC electrode positive (DCEP). Recommended current is 90–140 A for 1/8-inch electrodes and 120–170 A for 5/32-inch electrodes. All electrodes are 14 inches long. Available packages contain 5 sticks, 1 lb or 2 lb. Weight packages are sold by weight, not a fixed electrode count. Clean the weld area and follow the recommended preheat, interpass and cooling procedure for the base metal and section thickness.
