Description
SÜA ECuAl-A2 aluminum bronze electrodes are flux-coated consumables for shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), classified to AWS/SFA 5.6 ECuAl-A2. Use them for joining and overlaying aluminum bronze, high-strength copper-zinc alloys, silicon bronze, manganese bronze, selected nickel alloys, and bronze to steel or cast iron. Applications include hydraulic pistons, brake drums, gear housings, paper mill rolls, impellers, ship propellers and mixer arms. Deposits are machinable and suitable for frictional-wear applications in selected corrosive environments. Confirm compatibility with the base alloys and service conditions. Typical weld-metal properties are 100,000 psi tensile strength, 63,000 psi yield strength, 24-27% elongation in 2 inches and Brinell hardness of 130-150. These are typical values, not guaranteed minimums. Use DC electrode positive (DCEP / DC+) in the flat position only. Recommended current is 90-140 A for 1/8-inch electrodes and 120-175 A for 5/32-inch electrodes. All electrodes are 14 inches long. Available packages contain 5 sticks, 1 lb or 2 lb. Weight packages indicate net electrode weight; electrode count varies. Follow the applicable welding procedure for joint preparation, preheat and interpass temperatures. Maintain a short arc and allow the part to cool slowly before removing slag.
