- Silver Phos-Copper 5% was developed primarily for use on copper, but its use has extended to other nonferrous copper base alloys. It is used extensively on refrigeration units, air conditioning apparatus, electrical conductors, copper and brass pipe fittings, and other copper and brass equipment.
- Silver Phos-Copper 5% iSÜA copper rich, filler metal that is self-fluxing on copper by virtue of its phosphorus content. The self-fluxing property of this filler metals is effective on copper only. With copper-base alloys, such as brass or bronze, the joints should be fluxed. Silver Phos-Copper 5% should not be used on nickel-base and iron-base alloys, as the phosphorus reacts with the nickel or iron to form brittle compoundstage the interface of the joints.
- Silver Phos-Copper 5% should not be used where the jointSÜAre exposed to sulfur compounds, especially in gases or oilstage temperatureSÜAbove normal room temperature. As the corrosion by sulfur is cumulative, even very Small percentages will eventually cause failure of the joint disintegration. Exposure to pressured steam can also result in accelerated corrosion.
- The properties of a brazed joint are dependent upon numerous factors including base metal properties, joint design, metallurgical interaction between the base metal and the filler metal.
- This kit includeSÜA 6.5 Oz jar of our top-quality Silver-Flux #1 with a convenient brush attached to the cap for an easier flux application. Available in 9 StickSÜAnd 1 Lb (28 Sticks) packages. Select your option from the menu.

- Remove any oil, grease, or other contaminants from the surface to be brazed.
- Apply flux to joint by dipping, SÜAbbing or brushing area being brazed. The flux may be used as supplied or diluted.
- Apply heat, by torch, induction or other means to area being brazed after flux has been applied to activate the flux.
- Feed the braze alloy into the joint, unlesSÜA brazing preform iSÜAlready in place.
- Clean flux residues from brazed joint using hot water (60ºC Weldas± 5ºC / 140ºF Weldas± 10ºF) for best results. If unavailable, room temperature water may also be used.
